Kirby BourneWord Wizard
After nearly two years it was time for a new opportunity and she headed north to the British Columbia city of Dawson Creek. She worked at the TV station there in several capacities including sports reporter, news anchor and the newsroom supervisor.
Then, after another two years, she happily returned to the city she loves as an anchor on a local radio station.
In all of these locations social media has gone hand in hand with her work in news. Twitter and Facebook are tools she has used extensively to spread information to both the station’s followers and her own. She has received extensive training on how best to utilize both sites and is comfortable working with both.
When she’s not working she loves surfing Pinterest to find new recipes and DIY projects to liven up her apartment. She also loves reading, going to the movies, and spending time with her family and friends.

Laurel has also been freelancing for the past four years doing posters and advertisements for local non-profit organizations and wedding invitations.
Pinterest and Instagram are Laurel’s weapons of choice. For her, Pinterest is a great way to visually gather ideas for projects and to explore new products, and for a DIY junkie and shopaholic – it’s heaven. Instagram provides a wonderful thumbnail view of its users lives, what they are up to and how they see the world. It is a wonderful way to learn more about a business, a person, or gain new perspective and evoke inspiration.
When Laurel is not spending time with her family, she is tackling Pinterest projects and finding creative ways to add personality to her house. Laurel also loves to go out to the mountains to go camping, dirt biking and just to escape.
